Shopping Tips

  • Visit mid-week, particularly Tuesday through Thursday afternoons, when staff are most likely to have restocked shelves with freshly sorted donations — your chances of finding hidden gems are highest then.
  • Don't skip the furniture and housewares sections near the back; Guthrie donors frequently contribute quality pieces that are priced well below what you'd find at retail or even other resale shops.
  • Check for Goodwill's rotating color-tag discount system — certain tag colors are marked down by 50% or more each week, so ask a staff member which color is currently on sale before you start shopping.
  • Bring measurements for any furniture or large items you're hoping to find, and keep a tote bag or reusable shopping bag handy since you can rack up armloads of great finds quickly.
  • The on-site donation center means you can drop off items from home and shop in the same trip — a satisfying way to declutter and refresh your space simultaneously while supporting Goodwill's community mission in Guthrie, OK.
